"...Canadian singer / songwriter Jodie Leslie takes the audience to a place they've never been that somehow feels familiar. Her voice sparks wide dynamic range from smokey soft tones to a bold soaring resonance. She writes thoughtful lyrics, makes strong melodic choices, and clearly has the chops to convey the message vocally..."
"...In an age of disposable artists this little 5 foot powerhouse will be sticking around..."
In her voice you may hear echos of Annie Lennox, Bonnie Rait, Ann Wilson and KD Lang. With songwriting stylings inspired by Bryan Adams, Keith Urban, and Tom Petty, Jodie Leslie's music has crossed over both pop/rock and country genres. Once described as a "Female Tom Petty", she has opened for Bryan Adams, Gino Vanelli, Allanah Myles, John Conlee, Trooper, Lee Aaron, Harlequin, and Honeymoon Suite. She performed at the 2013 Grey Cup in Toronto with fellow musician friends who collectively make up "The Lean Machine". You'll also find her voice with "The Retrofitz", an 12 piece performance band.
Jodie has toured promoting her three solo albums in Canada, the US, and Europe. She has also recently released a fourth album "Covered" containing favourite old time country songs!
Her debut album "Resonant Frequency" contains the single "Daylight" penned by Leslie which is now featured in the U.S. Warner film "Refuge" with Linda Hamilton. Single "Keep Your Memory Alive" is now being used by Veterans Voices of Canada (www.vetvoice.org).
Her rendition of Alabama's "Angels Among Us" was given the thumbs up by Sony ATV Nashville, while her version of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" has been called "Bold and Soaring" by industry professionals. Inspired by the Dixie Chick's song "Easy Silence", Jodie respectfully covers this song with a fresh new sound accompanied only by piano and cello.
Her second album "Little Things" features songs all written by Leslie. The single "Never Too Late" - is now used as the theme song for international company "From The Earth Naturally", a company built by women - for women around the world! Be sure to check out the interview on You Tube that explains the story and inspiration behind this song - Jodie's mother, and her battle with cancer and overcoming it!
The "Little Things" album features guitar player Ryan Davidson (Gord Bamford) and contains songs "Dodge Dually" and "I'd Choose You" reflecting the country side of this songwriter, while the southern rock sound we are familiar with resounds in Leslie's "One Night" - packing a memorable punch. If you're a listener that enjoys hearing acoustic versions of rock songs, and country versions of pop songs, be sure to check out the additional content!
